SURAH AL AARAF 101 - 206

QURAN TAFSIR (QURAN AS IT EXPLAIN ITSELF)

In the Name of ALLAH, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

7:101.   These are the towns whose news We told to you; their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they would not believe in what they had denied before. It is such that Allah seal over the hearts of the disbelievers..

7:102.  And We did not find most of them any covenant , rather, We found most of them defiently disobedient.

[17:70. And We have honored the Children of Adam and carried them in the land and the sea, and We have provided for them of the good things, and We have preferred them over many of those We created in a marked preference.]

7:103.  Then after them We sent Musa with Our signs to Pharaoh and his commanders. But they did wrong in them, so see how is the end of the miachief makers.

7:104.  And Musa said: "O Firaun, I am a messenger from the Rabb of the universe."

7:105.  "It is not proper for me to say about Allah except the truth; I have come to you with a proof from your Rabb. So send with me the Children of Israel."

7:106.He said: "If you have come with a sign then bring it, if you are of the truthful?"

7:107.  So Musa threw his rod, and suddenly it was a veritable serpent.

7:108.  And he drew out his hand, and it appeared luminous pure white for the beholders.

[20:17-21.  "And what is in your right hand O Musa?"

Musa  said: "It is my staff, I lean on it, and I guide my sheep with it, and I have  many other uses for it."Said: "Throw it down O Musa."So he threw it down, and it became a moving snake! Said: "Seize it and do not be fear, We will return it to its previous former state."]

7:109.  The commanders from among the people of Firaun said: "This is a knowledgeable magician!"

7:110."He want to drive you out from your land; so what is your instruct?"

7:111.They said: "Delay him and his brother, and send gatherers to the cities."

7:112. "They will come to you with every knowledgeable magician(Sihr)."

[Saahir from Sihr = Magician, liar, stunningly eloquent, smart poet, deceitful, trickster, cheater, defrauder, dodger, hoaxer, swindler]

7:113. And the magicians came to Firawn, they said: "We require a reward if we are the victors."

7:114.He said: "Yes, and you will be made close to me.

7:115.They said: "O Moses, either you throw, or we will throw?"

7:116.  He(musa) said: "You throw." So when they threw they bewitched the eyes of the people, and instilled terror in them, and they produced a great magic.

7:117.   And We inspired to Musa: "Throw down your staff;" and suddenly it swallowed what they were falsfied.

[Asaa = Staff = Cane = Strength = Conviction = Authority = Power = Strong logic = Convincing argument]

7:118.   So the truth was established, and what they were doing was falsified.

7: 119. So they were  defeated there and  Humiliated.

7:120.And the magicians went down prostrating.

7:121. They said: "We believe in the Rabb of the worlds."

7:122."The Rabb of Musa and Harun."

7:123. Firaun said: "Have you become believers before I have given you permission? This is surely some plot which you have plotted in the city to drive its people out; But soon you will  know."

7:124."I will cut off your hands and feet from alternate sides, then I will crucify you all."

[Cutting off the hands and feet on the alternate side refers to immobilizing a person, otherwise crucifixion would not be necessary.

20:71. He said: "Have you believed to him before taking my permission? He is surely your great one who has taught you magic. So, I will cut off your hands and feet from alternate sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of the palm trees, and you will come to know which of us is more punishment and more lasting!"

26:49.  He said: "Have you believed unto him before I permitted you? He is surely your great one who has taught you magic. So you shall come to know, I will cut off your hands and feet from alternate sides, and I will crucify you all."

38:12.  Disbelieving before them were the people of Nuh, 'Aad, and  Firaun the owner of  stakes.]

7:125.They said: "Surely we are determined to turn to our Rabb ."

7:126. "Yyou are only seeking revenge on us because we believed in the signs of our Rabb when they came to us. Our Rabb, provide us with patience, and let us die as submitters (Muslimeen)."

[2:250. When they came forth to Jalut and his soldiers, they said, "Our Rabb grant us patience, and make firm our foothold, and give us victory over the disbelieving people."]

7:127. And the commanders from among the people of Firaun said: "Will you let Musa and his people corrupt the land, and abandon you and your gods?" He said: "We will kill their children and spare their women; we are in power over them."

7:128.  Musa said to his people: "Seek help from Allah, and be patient; the earth is for Allah, He will inherit it to whom He pleases of His servants; and the end will be for the righteous (against evil)."

[21:105. We have written in the Scripture: 'After the reminder, the earth will be inherited by My righteous slaves who do good.']

7:129. They said: "We were being harmed before you came to us and since you have come to us." He said: "Perhaps your Rabb will destroy your enemy, and make you successors in the earth, Then will see what kind of works you do.”?

7:130. And We afflicted the people of Firaun with years of drought, and a shortage in crops, they should have stopped to think..

7:131.  When any good came to them, they said: "This is ours," and when any bad afflicted them, they blamed it on Musa and those with him. Their blame is with Allah, but most of them do not know.

7:132. And they said: "No matter what you bring us of a sign to bewitch us with, we will never believe in you."

7:133. So We sent them the flood, and the locust, and the lice, and the frogs, and the blood; all detailed signs; but they turned arrogant, they were a criminal people.

7:134. And when the punishment befell them, they said: "O Musa, call on your Rabb for what He has pledged with you, that if you remove this punishment from us, then surely we will believe in you and surely we will send with you the Children of Israel."

7:135. So when We removed  the punishment from them for a fixed term, they broke their word.

7:136. So We took retribution from them. We drowned them in the sea, because they denied  Our Ayat, and were heedless with them.

7:137. And We made the people who were considered weak to inherit  the eastern parts of the land and the western parts thereof which We have blessed. And the good word of your Rabb was fulfilled for  the Children of Israel because of their patience. And We destroyed what Firaun and his people were doing, and what they erected.

7:138.  And We brought the Children of Israel cross the sea, then they came unto a people who were given to idols which they had. They said: "O Musa, make for us a god even as they have gods." He said: "You are an ignorant people!"

7:139. "These people are destroyed for that which they are engaged in (idols worship), and all that they are doing is in vain."

7:140. He said: "Shall I seek for you an ilah(god)  other than Allah. While he has given you superiority over the worlds?"

7:141. .And When we  saved you from the people of Firaun, they were afflicting you with the worst tormen, kill your sons and letting  your women live. And in that was a great trial from your Rabb.

[Abna = Sons = Strong ones. Nisaa = Females = Women = Weak ones.*

Yastahyoon carries the connotation of ‘letting live’ as well as ‘in shame’.

Yasoomoon = Selecting, choosing. This is what a tyrannical system does.

2:49. And  when we saved you from the people of Firaun, who were afflicting you with the worst punishment; they used to slaughter your sons, and sparing your women, and therein was a great trial from your Rabb.

27:34. She said: "When the kings enter a town they destroy it and make its most honorable among its people the lowest. And thus they do."

28:4. Firaun became mighty in the land, and he turned its people into factions; he oppressed a group of them by killing their children and letting  their women. He was of those who corrupted.

40:25.  Then, when he brought them the  truth from Us, they said: "Kill with him the sons  of those who believe with him, and sapre their women." But the plots of the rejecters is always in error.

Balaaun: Turn of events. Wa fi zalikum points to saving mentioned early in the verse]

7:142.  And We set a meeting for Musa in thirty nights, and We complemented them with ten more, so was appointed time of his Rabb was set at forty nights. And Musa said to his brother Haron: "Replace me among my people act in the right way, and do not follow the path of the corrupters."

[2:51. And We appointed a meeting time for Musa of forty nights, but then you took the calf after him while you were wrongdoers]

7:143.  So when Musa came to Our appointed place, and his Rabb spoke to him, he said: "My Rabb, let me look upon you." He said: "You will not see Me, but look upon the mountain, if it stays in its place then you will see Me." So when his Rabb revealed Himself to the mountain, He caused it to crumble; thus Musa fell down unconscious. When he recovered  his senses, he said: "Glory to You, I repent to You and I am the first of the believers."

7:144.  He said: "O Musa, I have chosen you over the people with My message and My words; so take what I have given you and be among the thankful."

7:145.  And We wrote for him on the tablets from all things a lesson, and the explanation  for all things (and said). Take it with strength and order your people to take the better therein. I shall show you the home of the defiantly disobedient.

[39:18. Those who listen to the word, and  follow the best  thereof , Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, and those are men of understanding.]

7:146.  I will turn away from My Verse ( Ayat ) those who are arrogant on the earth without right, and if they see every verse (Ayat)  they do not believe in it. And if they see the way of guidance they will not adopt it as the way; but if they see the way of error, they will adopt that way. That is because they have rejected Our Verse (Ayat) and were heedless of them.

7:147. And those who deny Our Verse ( Ayat)  and the meeting of the Hereafter, their works are fruitless. Are they requited with anything except for what they used to do?

7:148.  And the people of Musa, in his absence, made from their ornaments a sculpture of a calf that emitted a cry. Did they not see that it could not speak to them, nor guide them to the way? They took it(idol worship) and they were wrongdoers.

7:149.  And when they realized what their hands had done, and they saw that they had gone astray, they said: "If our Rabb have not mercy upon us and forgive us, Surely we will be of the losers!"

7:150.  And when Musa returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Miserable is what you have done after I was gone; do you wish to hasten the action of your Rabb?" And he cast down the tablets, and took his brother by his head dragging him towards him. He said: "Son of my mother, the people overpowered me and nearly killed me, so do not make the enemies rejoice over me, and do not make me with the wrongdoers people."

[20:86. So Musa returned to his people angry and disappointed. He said: "O My people, did not your Rabb promise you a good promise? Has the waiting for the pledge been too long, or did you desire that  wrath should descend from your Rabb on you? That you broke your promise to me."

Seizing the beard and head is indicative of interrogating harshly. Aaron had been extra patient with their idolatry to avoid division among them

20:94. He said: "O son of my mother, do not seize (me) not by my beard nor by my head. I feared lest you should say:  You have caused  a division among the Children of Israel, and you are not respected my word."

Haron, the Prophet of Allah, preferred Shirk over Sectarianism.

*This is how reprehensible sectarianism and division in religion is]

7:151.  He said: "My Rabb, forgive me and my brother, and admit us in Your mercy; and you are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."

7:152.  Those who took the calf will be dealt with a wrath from their Rabb and a humiliation in this worldly life. It is such that We recompense those who invent a lie.

7:153.  As for those who commit evil deeds and then repent afterwards and believe; your Rabb after that is oftForgiving, Most Merciful.

7:154.  And when the anger of  Musa calmed, he took the tablets; and in its inscription was  guidance and  mercy for those who fear their Rabb.

7:155.  And Musa selected from his people seventy men for Our appointed time; so when the earthquake seized them, he said: "My Rabb, if You wished You could have destroyed them before this, and me as well. Will you destroy us for what the foolish among us have done? It is all Your test, You let go astray those will go to astray and You guide those who will to be guude. You are our Protector, so forgive us and have mercy on us; You are the Best of those who Forgive."

[2:55. And you said: "O Musa, we will not believe you until we see Allah openly!" So the lightning strike took you while you were still staring.]

7:156.  "And decree for us good in this life, and in the Hereafter; we have been guided towards You." Allah said: "My punishment, I afflict with it whom I chose, and My mercy encompasses all things. I will thus decree it for those who live upright and contribute towards purification(zakat) , and those who believe in Our verses."

7:157. " Those who follow the unlettered messenger prophet, whom they find written  in the Taurat and the injeel; he commands them to do good, and prohibits them from evil and he makes lawful for them the good things, and he makes unlawful for them the evil things, and he removes their burden and the shackles that are upon them. So those who believe in him, and support him, and help him persevere, and follow the light that was sent down with him; these are the successful ones."

7:158.  Say: "O Mankind, I am a messenger of Allah  to you all. The One who has the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, there is no god except;Allah , He gives life and causes death." So believe in Allah and His messengers, the prophet unlettered the one who believes in Allah and Allah words; and follow him that you will perhaps have  guidance".

7:159.  Among the people of Musa  there are those  who  would guide in the way of  truth and act justly in its light.

7:160.  And We divided them into twelve tribes nations; and We inspired Musa when his people wanted to water: "Strike the stone with your stick," thus twelve springs burst out of it. Each people then knew from where place to water . And We shaded them with clouds and We sent down to them manna and quail: "Eat from the good things that We have provided for you." They did not wrong Us, but it was their souls that they wronged.

[2:60. And Musa was seeking water for his people, so We said: "Strike the stone with your staff." Thus twelve springs exploded out of it; each people then knew from where to drink. "Eat and drink from the provisions of Allah, and do not roam the earth as corrupters."

3:7. He is the One who sent down to you the Book, from which there are lawgiving revelations; they are the essence of the Book; and others which are of a similatude. As for those who have a disease in their hearts, they will follow that which is of a similatude, seeking to confuse, and seeking to derive an interpretation. But none know its interpretation except Allah, and those who are well founded in knowledge; they say: "We believe in it, all is from our Rabb." And none will remember except those who possess intelligence.]

7:161.  When they were told: "Reside in this city and eat  as you wish, and say: "Repentance  and enter the gate by prostrating yoiurselves (sujjadan) and  We will forgive for you your wrongdoings, and We will increase for the good doers."

7:162. Those who were wronged among them changed the word which was said to them ; so We sent upon them an torment  from the sky their wrong deeds.

[2:59.But the wronged altered what was said to them to a different saying, thus We sent down upon the wronged an affliction from the heavens for what  they were definitely disobeying in.

5:22.They said: "O Musa! In it are a people of great strength, and we shall never enter it, till they leave it; when they leave, then we will enter.

7:134.  And when the punishment befell them, they said: "O Musa, call on your Rabb for what He has pledged with you, that if you remove this punishment from us, then surely we will believe in you and surely we will send with you the Children of Israel."

8:11.when He covered you with a slumber as a security from Him, and He caused water (rain) to descend on you from the sky, to clean you thereby and to remove from you the Rijz (whispering or dirt) of Shaitan, and to strengthen your hearts, and make your feet firm thereby.

29:34.  "Indeed, we will bring down on the people of this town a great punishment from the sky, because they have been evil deeds (against Allah command."

34:5.  But those who strive against Our verse to frustrate them -- those, for them will be a severe painful torment. ]

7:163.  And ask them about the town which was by the sea, and they had violated the Sabbath; their big  fish would come to them openly on the day of their Sabbath, and when they are not in Sabbath, they do not come to them. Thus we made a trial of them, bcause of their evil deeds( against Allah command).

7:164. And when said  the community among them. "Why do you preach to a people whom Allah will destroy them  or to punish with a severe  punishment?" They said: "we preach to them for we are responsible in the sight of your Rabb and  that  they may become righteous"

7:165.  So when they forgot that which they were reminded with it, We saved those who forbade evil, and We seized who those who did wronged with a punishment because of their evil deeds( against Allah command).

7:166.  So when they exceeded the limits of what they were prohibited. We said to them: "Be despised, apes!"

7:167.And when  your Rabb declared that He would send upon them, until the Day of Resurrection, those who would inflict severe punishments on them. Your Rabb is quick in retribution and He is surely Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

7:168.  And We divided them into nations on the earth some are the righteous and  other or not. We tested them with good things and hardship so that they might return (to Allah ( the right path).

7:169.  Then, a generation came after them who inherited the Book, but they choose  the good of this low life saying: "It will be forgiven for us." And if they continue offer of the like (evil pleasure of this world)  came their way,  they would (again) seize them; was not the covenant of the Book taken on them that they would only say the truth about Allah, and they studied its contents well?  The life Hereafter is better for those the pious ones. Do you not understand?

7:170.  As for those who hold fast to the Book, and they hold the salat; We shall never waste the reward of those who do righteous deeds.

7:171.  And  when We raised(Nataqna) the mountain over them as if it had been a canopy, and they thought that it was going to fall on them.  “Hold firmly to what We have given you , and remember that which is therein , so that you may fear Allah.”

7:172.  And  when your Rabb brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed and made them testify as to themselves : "Am I not your Rabb" They said: "Yes! We testify ,"lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "We were unaware of this."

7:173.  Or lest you  say: "It was only our fathers afore time who took others as partners in worship along with Allah, and we were  descendants after them; So will You then destroy us because of the deeds of men who practiced falsehood ".

[You will not be questioned what others used to do. No one will bear the load of another.

2:134.That is a nation that has passed away; to them is what they have earned, and to you is what you have earned; and you will not be asked regarding what they did.

39:7. If you disbelieve, then  Allah is free from need of you; Allah does not want disbelief for Allah servants. And if you are grateful, Allah will accept it from you. No one will be responsible for the sin of others. Then to your Rabb is your return, and Allah will inform you what you have done.  Allah is the All-Knower of that within the breasts.]

7:174.  Thus do We explain Our Verses in detail, so that they may return (to the straight path).

7:175.  And recite to them the story of him to whom We gave Our verses, but he threw them away; so Shaitan followed him up, and he became one of those who went astray.

7:176.  And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him there with, but he clung to the earthy life and followed his own evil (vain ) desires. So his example is like that  of  the dog:  who always has its tongue  hanging out whether you chase it away or i leave it alone, .Such is the example of the people who reject Our Verses. So relate the stories,  that they may reflect.

[If it had been Our will = If he chose Our laws of humiliation. Allah revelation lightens your burdens while manmade(other books) dogmas place burdens on you.

7:157. Those who follow the unlettered messenger prophet, whom they find written  in the Taurat and the injeel; he commands them to do good, and prohibits them from evil and he makes lawful for them the good things, and he makes unlawful for them the evil things, and he removes their burden and the shackles that are upon them. So those who believe in him, and support him, and help him persevere, and follow the light that was sent down with him; these are the successful ones."]

7:177.  Evil is the example of the people who rejected Our Verses, and have done injustice only to themselves.

7:178.  Whomsoever Allah guides, he is the guided one, and whomsoever He sends astray, -- then those! They are the losers.

[4:88. Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the hypocrites Allah has cast them back for what they have earned. Do you want to guide  those whom Allah has made to go astray?,  you  will never find a guidance for those whom Allah has made to err.]

7:179.  And surely, We have created many of the Jinn and mankind for Hell. They have hearts but do not understand, and they have eyes but do not see , and they have ears do not hear (the truth). They are like cattle, nay even more astray; Those they are the headless ones.

[Cattle are at least guided by their natural instincts. 'Ghaafiloon' = Those who let the life pass by unaware of its potentials = Neglectful = Unaware = Careless.*

67:10.  They will also say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire! ]

7:180.  Allah has the Most Beautiful Names, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who practice deviation concerning Allah names. They will be recompensed for what they are used to do.

[4:171. O people of the book, do not overstep in your system, nor say about Allah except the truth. Isa the son of Mary was no more than Allah messenger and the fulfillment of His word to Maryam, and an inspiration from Him. So acknowledge Allah and His messengers, and do not say, "Trinity." Cease, for it is better for you. Ilah is only One Allah, be He glorified that He should have a son! To Him is all that is in the heavens and what is in the earth. Allah is enough as a caretaker.

17:110. Say: "Invoke Allah or invoke Ar-Rahman (the Most Gracious), by whatever name you invoke Him (it is the same), for to Him belong the Best Names. And offer your Salah (prayer)neither aloud nor in a low voice, but follow a way between.

41:40.  Those who deviate Our Ayat are not hidden from us. Is he who is cast into the Fire better or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection?  Do whatever you will. Allah is All-Seer of what you do.]

7:181.  And of those whom We have created, there is a nation who guides with the truth, and  thereby establishes justice.

7:182. Those who reject Our verses, We will gradually lead them with from where they do not know.

7:183. And I will encourage to them; My plan is firm.

7:184.  Do they not reflect Their companion is not  possession by Jinn in their . He is  a clear warner.

[10:16. Say: "If Allah had so willed, I would have not recited it to you , nor  would you  have known about it. I have stayed among you a lifetime before it. Will you not, then, use your sense.?]

7:185. Do they not look at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all things that Allah has created; And that it may be that the end of their lives is near. So In which Narrative (Hadith) after this one will they  believe.

7:186.Whoever Allah lets go astray, then there is no guide for him; And Allah leaves them blindly wandering in their transgression.

[2:15. Allah mocks at them, and leaves them to continue blindly in their transgression.]

7:187. They ask you about the Hour (Day of Resurrection): "When will be its appointed time" Say: "Its knowledge is with my Rabb (Alone).* *None can reveal its time except Allah. Heavy is its burden through the heavens and the earth. It will not come to you except suddenly.” They ask you, as if you have informed of it. Say: "Its knowledge is with Allah (Alone). But most of the people do not know."

[Only Allah Can Reveal the Time of the End; Messengers Are Humans Like You]

7:188. Say: “I have no power for myself any benefit or harm, except what Allah wills. If I knew the knowledge of the Ghayb (Unseen), surely I would have increased  my good fortune, and no harm would have come to me. I am but a warner, and a bearer of glad tidings unto  people who will believe.”

7:189. It is He Who has created you from a single soul, and made from its mate,  that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her. When he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues with it,  And when it became heavy, they both invoked Allah their Rabb (saying): "If You give us a righteous  child(salihan), surely we will be among the grateful."

7:190.  But when He gaves them a righteous child (salihan), they setup partners with Allah in that what He had granted  them. Exalted is Allah above what they partner with Him.

7:191. Do they attribute as partners to Allah those who created nothing but they themselves are created.

7:192. And they cannot help them, nor can they help themselves.

7:193. And if you call them for guidance, they do not follow you. It is the same for them whether you call them or you remain silent.

7:194. Those whom you call upon besides Allah are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you are truthful.

7:195. Do they (idols) feet to walk, hands to hold,  eyes to see and ears to hear ?Say “Call upon your idols and your so called partners of Allah, and then scheme against me  and give me no respite!

7:196. My protector is Allah Who has revealed the Book (the Qur’an), and Allah protects the righteous.

7:197. And those whom you call upon besides Allah, has no power to help you, nor can they help themselves.

7:198. And if you call them to guidance, they do not hear. And you see them looking at you, yet they do not see.”

7:199. Resort to pardon, and enjoin  the good, and turn away from the ignorant.

7:200. And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaytan, then seek refuge with Allah. Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

7:201. Those who are aware, when an evil thought comes to them from Shaytan, they remember , and then can see.

7:202. But their brothers they (the devils) plunge them deeper into error, and they never stop cease.

7:203.  And if you do not bring them a miracle, they say: "Why have you not brought it" Say: "I only follow what is revealed to me from my Rabb. This (the Qur'an) is an evidences from your Rabb, and a guidance and a mercy to a people who believe.”

7:204. And when the Qur'an is recited then listen to it, and pay attention that you may receive mercy.

7:205.  And remember your Rabb within yourself  humbly and fear and without the loudness in words in the mornings and in the evening, and do not be those who are neglectful.

7:206. Surely, those who are with your Rabb are never too proud to perform acts of serve Allah and  they glorify Allah and  prostrate  themselves before Allah (alone).
