SURAH AL MAEDAH 101- 120

*QURAN TAFSIR ( QURAN AS IT EXPLAIN ITSELF)*

*5:101.  O you who acknowledge, do not ask about things, which if revealed to you, would harm you. If you ask about them after the Quran has been sent down, then they will become clear to you. Allah pardons for them, and Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate.*

*[The general rule has been given that all pure and good things are permissible to you. Your questions are very clearly answered in the Qur’an*

*5:15. People of the book, Our messenger has come to you to proclaim for you much of what you were hiding from the book, and to ignore over much. A light has come to you from Allah and a clarifying book.*

*15:1. They would have said, "Our sight has been distorted. No, we are a people who are being bewitched!"*

*22:40. The ones who were driven out of their homes without justice, except that they said, "Our Rabb is Allah!" If it were not for Allah defending people against themselves, then many places of gathering, markets, support centers, and temples where the name of Allah is frequently mentioned, would have been destroyed. Allah will give victory to those who support Him. Allah is Powerful, Noble.*

*The Qur’an is for all times, and while the basic Laws and Principles remain immutable, minor details are intended to be flexible according to temporal and spatial requirements.*

*11:1. A book whose signs have been ascertained, then detailed, from One who is Wise, Ever-aware.*

*This Day I have perfected your religious law for you, completed My favor upon you, and chosen for you Al-Islam as the Way of Life.*

*5:3.Forbidden to you is what is already dead, and the blood, the meat of pig, and what was dedicated to other than Allah. The strangled, killed by a blow, fallen from height, gored, eaten by wild animals except what you managed to rescue, and those slaughtered on altars... Also what you divide through gambling. This is all vile. Today the ingrates have given up from your system, so do not revere them, but revere Me. Today I have perfected your system for you, completed My blessings upon you, and I have accepted peaceful surrenderas the system for you. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not seeking sin, then Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate. ]*

*5:102.  A community before you had asked the same, then they became ingrates in it.*

*[2:68. They said, "Call upon your Rabb for us that He may clarify which it is." He said, "He says it is a heifer neither too old nor too young, an age between that. So now do as you are commanded."]*

*5:103. Allah did not prohibit livestock for begetting five or seven, for oaths, for begetting twins, for fathering ten; but the people who rejected invented lies to Allah, and most of them do not reason.*

*5:104.  If they are told, "Come to what Allah has sent down, and to the messenger;" they say, "We are content with what we found our fathers doing." What if their fathers did not know anything nor were they guided?*

*5:105.  O you who acknowledge, you are responsible for yourselves. None of the misguided can harm you when you are guided. To Allah is your return, all of you, and then He will inform you of what you have done.*

*5:106.  O you who acknowledge, witnessing a will when death is approaching to one of you shall be done by two who are just amongst you. Or, if you have ventured out in the land, then two others may suffice if death is approaching you; you will hold them after the contact prayer, and let them swear by Allah if you have doubt, "We will not sell it for any price, even if he was a near relative, and we will not conceal the testimony of Allah, or else we are then of the sinners."*

*5:107.  In case it is noticed that they were biased, then two others belonging to the discriminated party shall take their place. They should swear by Allah, "Our testimony is more truthful than their testimony, and if we transgress, then we are of the wrongdoers."*

*5:108 This is best so that they would bring the testimony on its face value, for fear that their oaths would be discarded after being made. Be aware of Allah, and listen; Allah does not guide the wicked people.*

*5:109.  The day Allah will gather the messengers and He will say, "What was the response you received?"; they said, "We have no knowledge, you are the Knower of all the unseen."*

*[What about those who believe that Prophet Muhammed would save them on the Day of Judgment? They will be rejected by their idol on that day, and they will be surprised to hear his intercession in the form of testimony to the truth*

*25:30. The messenger said, "My Rabb, my people have deserted this Quran."*

*Also see: 2:48. Beware of a day where no person can avail another person, nor will any intercession be accepted from it, nor will any ransom be taken, nor will they have supporters.]*

*5:110. Allah said, "O Isa son of Mariyam, recall My blessings upon you and your mother that I supported you with the (Ruh-ul-Qudus) Holy Spirit; you spoke to the people in the cradle and in old age; and I taught you the book and the wisdom, and the Torah, and the Injeel; and you would create from clay the shape of a bird, then blow into it and it becomes a bird by My leave; and you heal the blind and the leperous by My leave; and you brought out the dead by My leave. I have restrained the Children of Israel from you, that you came to them with proofs; but those who rejected amongst them said, "This is an obvious magic!"*

*[3:45. The controllers said, "O Mariyam, Allah gives good news of a word from Him. His name is the Messiah, Isa the son of Mariyam. Honorable in this world and in the Hereafter, and from among those who are made close."*

*3:111. They will not harm you except in being an annoyance, and if they fight you they will turn and flee; then they will not be supported.*

*4:157.  For their saying, "We have killed the Messiah Isa the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah!" They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they had. Those who dispute are in doubt of him, they have no knowledge except to follow conjecture; they did not kill him for a certainty.*

*6:123. As such, We have permitted in every town the influential from its criminals, to scheme in it. They only scheme their own selves without perceiving.*

*7:176.  Had We willed, We could have elevated him by it, but he stuck to the earth and he followed his wishful thinking. His example is like the dog; if you scold him he pants, and if you leave him he pants; such is the example of the people who deny Our signs. Relate the stories, perhaps they will think.*

*See also: Ruh-ul-Qudus = Ruh-il-Qudus = Ruh-il-Amin = Gibriel.  2:87, 2:97, 2:253, 5:110, 16:2, 16:102, 26:193, 42:52]*

*5:111. I inspired the disciples that you shall acknowledge Me and My messenger; they Said, 'We acknowledge, and bear witness that we have peacefully surrendered.'*

*5:112. When the disciples said, "O Isa son of Mariyam, can your Rabb send down for us a feast from heaven?" he said, "Be aware of Allah if you are those who acknowledge."*

*[Establish the Divine Order on earth and that will ensure Divine provision in abundance and equity.*

*7:96.  If the people of the towns had only acknowledged and been aware, then We would have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the land; but they denied, so We took them for what they used to earn.]*

*5:113.  They said, "We want to eat from it and to reassure our hearts, and so we know that you are truthful, and so that we can become a witness over it."*

*5:114.  Isa son of Mariyam said, "Our Rabb, Our Allah, send down to us a feast from heaven, that it becomes a joy to us from the first to the last, and a sign from You, and provide for us, you are the best provider."*

*[3:7. He is the One who sent down to you the book, from which there are definite signs; they are the essence of the book; and others, which are  allegorical.  As for those who have disease in their hearts, eager to cause confusion and eager to derive their interpretation, they will follow what is allegorical verses from it. But none knows their meaning except Allah and those who are well founded in knowledge; they say, "We acknowledge it, all is from our Rabb." None will remember except the people of intellect.]*

*5:115.  Allah said, "I will send it down to you, but whoever rejects after this from amongst you, I will punish him a punishment like no one else from the worlds will be punished!".*

*5:116.  Allah will say, "O Isa son of Mariyam, did you tell the people to take you and your mother as gods besides Allah?" He said, "Be you glorified, I cannot say what I have no right to. If I had said it then You know it, You know what is in my person while I do not know what is in Your person. You are the Knower of the unseen."*

*5:117.  "I only said to them what You commanded me to say, that you shall serve Allah my Rabb and your Rabb; and I was witness over them as long as I was with them, but when You took me, You were watcher over them. You are witness over all things."*

*5:118.  "If You punish them, then they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, then You are the Noble, Wise."*

*5:119.  Allah will say, "This is a day when the truth will benefit the truthful." They will have gardens with rivers flowing beneath; eternally they will abide therein. God has become pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. Such is the greatest victory.*

*5:120. To Allah  is the sovereignty of heavens, earth, and all that is in them; and He is capable of all things.*

SURAH AL MAEDAH 51 - 100

QURAN TAFSIR ( QURAN AS IT EXPLAIN ITSELF)

*5:51.  O you who acknowledge, do not take the Jews and the Nazarenes as allies, for they are allies to one another; and whoever takes them as such from amongst you is one of them. Allah does not guide the wicked people.*

*[This verse points to taking allies on a national scale, and not to individual friendship.* *60:7. Perhaps Allah will grant compassion between you and those you consider enemies; and Allah is Omnipotent. Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate]*

*5:52.  You will see those who have a disease in their hearts hurrying to them, saying, "We fear that a disaster will befall us!" Perhaps Allah will bring a victory or a decree from Himself, then they will become regretful over what they had kept hidden within themselves.*

*5:53.  Those who acknowledge said, "Were these the ones who swore oaths by Allah that they were with you?" Their works have collapsed, and they have become losers.*

*5:54.  O you who acknowledge, whoever from among you turns away from His system, then Allah will bring a people whom He loves and they love Him; humble towards those who acknowledge, dignified towards the ingrates; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of those who blame. This is Allah grace, He bestows it upon whom He wills; Allah is Encompassing, Knowledgeable.*

*5:55.  Your ally is Allah, His messenger and those who acknowledge, who hold the contact prayer, and contribute towards betterment, and they are kneeling.*

*5:56.  Whoever allies Allah, His messenger and those who acknowledge; then the party of Allah is the ones who will be victorious.*

*5:57.  O you who acknowledge, do not take as allies those who have taken your system as fun and games from among those who have been given the book before you and the ingrates. Be aware of Allah if you are those who acknowledge.*

*5:58.  If you call to the contact prayer, they take it as fun and games. That is because they are a people who do not reason.*

*5:59.  Say, "O people of the book, do you hate us simply because we acknowledge Allah and what was sent down to us and what was sent down before?" Alas, most of them are wicked.*

*5:60 Say, "Shall I inform you of worse than this as a punishment from Allah? Those whom Allah cursed and displeased with them, and He made from them apes, pigs and servants of the aggressor. Those have a worst place and are more astray from the right path.*

*[2:65.You have come to know who it was amongst you that transgressed the Sabbath, We said to them, "Be despicable apes!*

*4:51. .Did you not see those who were given a portion of the book, they trust superstition and aggression, and they say of the ingrates, "Those are better guided than these who acknowledged the path." ]*

*5:61. If they come to you, they say, "We acknowledge," while they had entered in with rejection and went out with the same. Allah is aware of what they were hiding.*

*5:62 You see many of them hasten to sin, animosity, and consuming money illicitly. Miserable indeed is what they were doing.*

*5:63 Shouldn't the Rabbis and Priests deter them from speaking evil and consuming money illicitly? Miserable indeed is what they had done.*

*[A great many religious leaders, rabbis, priests, monks, Mullahs, yogis, and mystics devour the wealth of people deceptively, and hinder them from the way of Allah.*

*9:34. O you who acknowledge, many of the scholars and priests consume people's money in falsehood, and they turn away from the path of Allah. Those who hoard gold and silver, and do not spend it in the cause of Allah, give them news of a painful retribution.].*

*5:64.  The Jews said, "The hand of Allah is tied-down!" Their hands will be tied-down, and they will be cursed for what they have said. No, His hands are wide open, spending as He wills. For many of them, what has been sent down to you will increase them in aggression and rejection; and We have cast between them animosity and hatred until the day of Resurrection. Every time they ignite the fire of war, Allah puts it out; and they seek to make corruption in the land; and Allah does not like the corrupters.*

*[22:40. The Qur’an increases many people in their opposition since it is a great equalizer of humanity]*

*5:65. If the people of the book only would have acknowledged and been aware, We would have cancelled for them their sins and admitted them to gardens of paradise.*

*5:66. If they had upheld the Torah, the Injeel, and what was sent down to them from their Rabb, they would have been rewarded from above them and below their feet. From among them is a pious nation, but many of them commit evil.*

*[Literally, min fauqihim wa min tahti arjulihim = From above them and from underneath their feet’. Akl = Food = Eating = Partaking = Blessings]*

*5:67. O messenger, deliver what was sent down to you from your Rabb; if you do not, then you have not delivered His message. Allah will protect you from the people. Allah does not guide the rejecting people.*

*5:68.  Say, "O people of the book, you are not upon anything until you uphold the Torah and the Injeel and what was sent down to you from your Rabb." For many of them, what was sent down to you from your Lord will only increase them in transgression and rejection. So do not feel sorry for the ingrates.*

*5:69.  "Those who acknowledge, those who are Jewish, those who are the followers of other religions, and the Nazarenes… Whoever acknowledges Allah and the Last day and does good works, then they will have nothing to fear nor will they grieve."*

*[Those who attain belief and call themselves Muslims, and those who are Jews, and Christians and the agnostics, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and helps people, shall have their reward with their Rabb. For them there shall be no fear from without, nor shall grief touch them from within. 2:62.*

*The Big Picture could be more crucial than in the understanding of these verses, 2:62, 5:69.*

*Respectfully speaking, some great commentators have misinterpreted this verse for not looking at other related verses.*

*It is inconceivable that those who oppose the truth, whether they are the People of the Book or the idolaters, could get out of error until the clear proof Al-Qur’an comes to them. 98:1*

*The non-Israelite Prophet liberates the People of the Book from the shackles of their manmade dogmas and brings them from darkness to light -- 7:157.*

*They say, “Be Jews or Christians, then you will be rightly guided.” Say, “Nay, we follow the religion of Abraham, the upright. He associated no one with the One True God.is Allah” And Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. 2:135*

*O you who believe, say, “We believe in Allah and the revelation that has been conveyed to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob as well as the tribal Israelite Prophets; and in what was given to Musa and Isa and to other Prophets from their Rabb. We make no distinction among them since all of them were one in purpose and they got their guidance from the One True God is Allah. And for Him, we are Muslims.” 2:136*

*So, if they come to believe in the way you believe, they will be rightly guided. But if they turn away, they will be falling into opposition and Allah will be Sufficient for you against them. He is the Hearer, Knower of all things and events. 2:137]*

*5:70.  We have taken the covenant of the Children of Israel and We sent to them Our messengers. Every time a messenger came to them with what their minds did not desire, a group of them they would reject, and a group of them they would kill.*

*5:71. They did not consider that it might be a test, so they turned blind and deaf. Then Allah accepted the repentance from them. But again many of them turned blind and deaf. Allah is watcher over what they do.*

*5:72 Ingrates indeed are those who have said, "Allah is the Messiah son of Mary!" Although the Messiah had said, "O Children of Israel, serve Allah, my Rabb and your Rabb. Whoever sets up partners with Allah, then Allah will forbid paradise for him, and his destiny will be the fire; and the wicked will have no supporters."*

*5:73 Ingrates indeed are those who have said, "Allah is the third of trinity!" There is no god but One Allah. If they do not cease from what they are saying, then those who reject from among them will be afflicted with a painful retribution.*

*5:74 Would they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate.*

*5:75. The Messiah son of Mariyam, was no more than a messenger; like the messengers before him. His mother was trustworthy, and they used to eat the food. See how We clarify the signs for them, then see how they deviate.*

*5:76.  Say, "Do you serve other than Allah what cannot harm you or benefit you?" Allah is the Hearer, the Knower.*

*5:77.  Say, "O followers of the book, do not be extreme in your system other than the truth, and do not follow the desires of a people who have been misguided before, and they misguide many; and they strayed from the right path."*

*5:78.  Cursed are those who have rejected from among the Children of Israel by the tongue of Dawud and Isa son of Mariyam. That is for what they have disobeyed, and for what they transgressed.*

*5:79 They would not stop each other from doing sin. Wickedness is what they used to do.*

*5:80 You see many of them allying the ingrates. Wicked is what they have provided for themselves, for Allah wrath is upon them, and in the retribution they will abide.

*5:81.  If they had only acknowledged Allah and the prophet, and what was sent down to him, then they would not have taken them as allies; but many of them are corrupt.*

*5:82.  You will find the people with greatest animosity towards those who acknowledge are the Jews and those who set up partners; and you will find the closest in affection to those who acknowledge are those who said, "We are Nazarenes;" that is because amongst them are Priests and Monks, and they are not arrogant.*

*5:83.  If they hear what was sent down to the messenger you see their eyes flooding with tears, for what they have known as the truth, they say, "Our Rabb, we acknowledge, so record us with the witnesses."*

*[Sama’ = Hear = Hear and understand]*

*5:84.  "Why shouldn't we acknowledge Allah and what has come to us of the truth? We yearn that our Rabb admits us with the righteous people."*

*5:85.  So Allah rewarded them for what they have said with paradises that have rivers flowing beneath them, in them they shall abide; such is the reward of the good doers.*

*[Muhsineen = Doers of good = Benefactors of humanity = Those who create balance in the society]*

*5:86 Those who rejected and denied Our signs, they are the dwellers of hell.*

*[Their own ‘self’ face Jaheem, a great hindrance to self-actualization = Blazing fire]*

*5:87. O you who acknowledge, do not forbid the good things that Allah has made lawful to you, and do not transgress; Allah does not like the transgressors.*

*[Self-mortification by ascetics, monks and mystics is not the way to ‘purify’ the ‘soul’.]*

*5:88. Eat from what Allah has provided for you, good and lawful; and be aware of Allah in whom you acknowledge.*

*5:89.  Allah will not hold you for your unintentional oaths, but He will hold you for what oaths you have made binding with consideration. Its cancellation shall be the feeding of ten poor people from the average of what you feed your family, or that you clothe them, or that you free a slave; whoever cannot find shall fast for three days; as an atonement when you swear. You shall fulfill your oaths. It is such that Allah clarifies for you His signs that you may be thankful.*

*[‘Saum’, Abstinence 2:183. O you who acknowledge, fasting is decreed for you as it was decreed for those before you that perhaps you may be righteous.].*

*5:90.  O you who acknowledge, intoxicants, and gambling, and altars, and arrows of chance are tools of affliction used by the devil. You shall avoid him so that you may be successful.*

*[2:219 They ask you about intoxicants and gambling. Say, "In them is great harm, and a benefit for people; but their harm is greater than their benefit." They ask you how much are they to give, say, "The excess." Thus, Allah clarifies for you the signs that you may think.

*The word ALANSAB denotes altars and shrines.*

For instance, worshipping Kaba, which was originally a temple built to worship Allah alone violates the principles of monotheism.*

*Kaba is not a holy building, but merely a historic point for the annual conference of Monotheists.*

*Visiting a place to commemorate Allah does not mean idolizing such a place.*

*The black stone next to Kaba, which was perhaps originally used as a marker to indicate the start of circumvolution, is another big idol with millions of worshipers. Muhammed's grave, which did not exist during the revelation of the Quran, is too one of the most popular idols in the world.*

*All these shrines and stones are within the reference set of the word ansab. Contrary to unequivocal verses of the Quran, millions of Sunnis and Shiites worship rocks, stones, shrines, and the rotten bones of their idols.*

*2:48: Beware of a day where no person can avail another person, nor will any intercession be accepted from it, nor will any ransom be taken, nor will they have supporters.

*25:3. They took besides Him Allah who do not create anything and are themselves created! They do not possess for themselves any harm or benefit, nor do they possess death or life, nor resurrection.]*

*5:91. The devil only wants to cause strife between you through intoxicants and gambling, and to repel you away from remembering Allah and from the contact prayer. Will you then desist?*

*[2:219. They ask you about intoxicants,Games of chance and gambling. Say, "In them is great harm, and a benefit for people; but their harm is greater than their benefit." They ask you how much are they to give, say, "The excess." Thus, Allah clarifies for you the signs that you may think.]*

*5:92 Obey Allah and obey the messenger, and beware. If you turn away then know that the duty of the messenger is clear deliverance.*

*5:93. There is no sin upon those who acknowledge and promote reforms for what they eat when they are aware, acknowledge, and promote reforms; then they are aware and acknowledge, then they are aware and do good; Allah loves the good doers.*

*[Ta’m, beyond eating and drinking, includes enjoying Allah bounties in all forms.]*

*5:94. O you who acknowledge, Allah will test you with some of the game for hunting, coming within reach of your hands and your spears, so that Allah will know who reveres Him when unseen. Whoever transgresses after this, then he will have a painful retribution.*

*5:95. O you who acknowledge, do not kill any game while you are restricted; and whosoever of you kills it deliberately, then the recompense is to value what was killed against the livestock, which shall be judged by two equitable persons from you, and to make such as a donation to reach the kaaba (for use by the needy pilgrims 22:28). Or, its expiation shall be in using it to feed the needy ones, or by an equivalent fast; to taste the consequence of his deed; Allah forgives what has past. Whosoever returns, then Allah will avenge it. Allah is Noble, Avenger.*

*5:96. Lawful for you is the catch of the sea, to eat it as enjoyment for you and for those who travel; and forbidden for you is the catch of the land as long as you are under restriction; and be aware of Allah to whom you will be summoned.*

*[Bahr = Sea = River = Any body of water]*

*5:97. Allah has made the (kaaba) kaabata, the Sacred house(Albayt alharam), a maintenance for the people, and also the restricted month, the donations, the regulations so that you know that Allah knows what is in heavens and what is in earth, and that Allah is aware of all things.*

[2:194. The Restricted Month is for the Restricted Month. The restrictions are mutual. Whoever attacks you, then you shall attack him the same as he attacked you; and be conscientious of Allah, and know that Allah is with the righteous.]

*5:98.  Know that Allah is powerful in retribution, and that Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate.*

*5:99. The only duty of the messenger is to deliver. Allah knows what you reveal and what you conceal.*

*5:100. Say, "The bad and the good are not equal, even if the abundance of the bad pleases you." So be aware of Allah, O you who have intelligence, that you may succeed.*

*[The bad or evil is what harms the collective good of humanity and drags the ‘self’ down*

*14:24. Have you not seen how Allah cites the example of a good word is like a good tree, whose root is firm and its branches in the sky?*

*The right is right, and the wrong is wrong regardless of what the majority think.*

*2:243. Did you not see those who were evicted from their homes in groups, all the while they were wary of death; so Allah said to them, "Die," then He resurrected them. Allah has great favor over the people, but most people are not thankful.*

*6:116. If you obey the majority of those on earth they will lead you away from Allah path; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess.*

*11:17.As for those who are on a proof from their Rabb, and are followed by a testimony from Him; and before it was the book of Moses as a guide and a mercy; they will acknowledge it. Whoever rejects it from amongst the parties, then the fire is his meeting place. So do not be in any doubt about it. It is the truth from your Rabb, but most people do not acknowledge.]*

SURAH AL MAEDAH 1 - 50

*QURAN TAFSIR ( QURAN AS IT EXPLAIN ITSELF)*

*In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.*

*5:1. O you who believe, you shall fulfill your covenants. Permitted for you to eat are the livestock, except those specifically prohibited herein. You shall not permit hunting throughout Hajj pilgrimage. Allah decrees whatever He wills.*

*[Baheema-tul-An’aam = The herbivorous cattle = Plant-eating quadrupeds = Livestock.*

*5:3.  Prohibited for you are animals that die of themselves, blood, the meat of pigs, and animals dedicated to other than Allah. (Animals that die of themselves include those) strangled, struck with an object, fallen from a height, gored, attacked by a wild animal - unless you save your animal before it dies - and animals sacrificed on altars. Also prohibited is dividing the meat through a game of chance; this is an abomination. Today, the disbelievers have given up concerning (the eradication of) your religion; do not fear them and fear Me instead. Today, I have completed your religion, perfected My blessing upon you, and I have decreed Submission as the religion for you. If one is forced by famine (to eat prohibited food), without being deliberately sinful, then Allah is Forgiver, Merciful.*

*2:173. He only prohibits for you the eating of animals that die of themselves (without human interference), blood, the meat of pigs, and animals dedicated to other than Allah. If one is forced (to eat these), without being malicious or deliberate, he incurs no sin. Allah is Forgiver, Most Merciful.]*

*5:2.  O you who believe, do not violate the rites instituted by Allah, nor the Sacred Months, nor the animals to be offered, nor the garlands marking them, nor the people who head for the Sacred Shrine seeking blessings from their Rabb and approval. Once you complete the pilgrimage, you may hunt. Do not be provoked into aggression by your hatred of people who once prevented you from going to the Sacred Masjid Al Haram (48:25). You shall cooperate in matters of righteousness and piety; do not cooperate in matters that are sinful and evil. You shall observe Allah. Allah is strict in enforcing retribution.*

*[Mayitah = Carrion = Dead meat = An animal that dies of itself.*

*Azlaam = Dividing eating portions by picking or shooting arrows = In other contexts Azlaam also includes the conjecture of foretelling the future = Raffle = Lottery = Divining arrows = Clairvoyance = Dividing things or time for one another through randomly picking up slips of paper.*

*Deen = System of Life = The Law.*

*2:173.  He only prohibits for you the eating of animals that die of themselves (without human interference), blood, the meat of pigs, and animals dedicated to other than Allah. If one is forced (to eat these), without being malicious or deliberate, he incurs no sin. Allah is Forgiver, Most Merciful.*

*2:185. Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may substitute the same number of other days. Allah wishes for you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify Allah for guiding you, and to express your appreciation.*

*2:219. They ask you about intoxicants and gambling: say, "In them there is a gross sin, and some benefits for the people. But their sinfulness far outweighs their benefit." They also ask you what to give to charity: say, "The excess." Allah thus clarifies the revelations for you, that you may reflect.

*5:90. O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.]*

*5:4 They consult you concerning what is lawful for them; say, "Lawful for you are all good things, including what trained dogs and falcons catch for you." You train them according to Allah teachings. You may eat what they catch for you, and mention Allah name thereupon. You shall observe Allah. Allah is most efficient in reckoning.*

*5:5. Today, all good food is made lawful for you. The food of the people of the scripture is lawful for you, [and your food is lawful for them]. Also, you may marry the chaste women among the believers, as well as the chaste women among the followers of previous scripture, provided you pay them their wages. You shall maintain chastity, not committing adultery, nor taking secret lovers(It must be an honest wedlock4:24). Anyone who rejects faith, all his work will be in vain, and in the Hereafter he will be with the losers.*

*[In between the lines, Muslim women are allowed to marry Muslim men only]*

*5:6. Believers! When you stand up for Prayer wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads, and wash your feet up to the ankles. And if you are in the state of ritual impurity, purify yourselves (by taking a bath). But if you are either ill, travelling, have satisfied a want of nature or have had contact with women and find no water then have recourse to clean earth and wipe your faces and your hands therewith. Allah does not want to lay any hardship upon you; rather He wants to purify you and complete His favours upon you so that you may give thanks.*

*[4:43. Believers! Do not draw near to the Prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying nor while you are defiled - save when you are travelling - until you have washed yourselves. If you are either ill or travelling or have satisfied a want of nature or have had contact with women and can find no water, then betake yourselves to pure earth, passing with it lightly over your face and your hands. Surely Allah is All-Relenting, All-Forgiving.*

*Wudhu = Ablution will help prepare mentally for congregational prayer. Tayammum= Dry ablution]*

*5:7. Remember Allah's favour upon you and His covenant which He made with you when you said: 'We have heard and we obey.' So do fear Allah. Allah has full knowledge even of that which is hidden in the breasts of people.*

*[1:4-5. The Master of the Day of Recompense.*

*You alone do we worship, and You alone do we turn for help.]*

*5:8. Believers! Be upright bearers of witness for Allah, and do not let the enmity of any people move you to deviate from justice. Act justly, that is nearer to God-fearing. And fear Allah. Surely Allah is well aware of what you do.*

*5:9. Allah has promised those who believe and do good works that they will have forgiveness from sins and a great reward.*

*5:10. As for those who disbelieve and give the lie to Our signs, they are destined for the Blazing Flame.*

*5:11.  O you who believe! Remember (the) Favor (of) Allah upon you when determined a people that they stretch towards you their hands, but He restrained their hands from you. And fear Allah. And upon Allah so let put the trust the believers.*

*5:12.  And certainly took Allah a Covenant (from the) Children (of) Israel and We appointed among them two (and) ten (i.e twelve) leaders. And said Allah, "Indeed, I (am) with you, if you establish the prayer and give the zakah and you believe in My Messengers and you assist them and you loan (to) Allah a loan goodly, surely I will remove from you your evil deeds and I will surely admit you (to) gardens flow from underneath them the rivers. But whoever disbelieved after that among you, then certainly he strayed (from) the way, the right.*

*[Example (of) those who spend their wealth in (the) way (of) Allah, (is) like a grain which grows seven ears, in each ear hundred grain(s). And Allah gives manifold to whom He wills. And Allah (is) All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.]*

*5:13  So for their breaking (of) their covenant We cursed them and We made their hearts hard. They distort the words from their places, and forgot a part of what they were reminded of [it]. And not you will cease to discover of treachery from them except a few of them. But forgive them and overlook. Indeed, Allah loves the good-doers.*

*5:14  And from those who said, Indeed we (are) Nazarenes (Christians)," We took their covenant; but they forgot a part of what they were reminded of [it]. So We aroused between them [the] enmity and [the] hatred till (the) Day (of) the Resurrection. And soon will inform them Allah of what they used to do.*

*[Rivalry based upon Sectarianism and Nationalism, a natural consequence of deviating from the True Message, whether people call themselves Jews, Christians or Muslims.]*

*5:15  O People (of) the Book! Surely has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking of much. Surely has come to you from Allah a light and a Book clear.*

*5:16. Guides with it Allah (those) who seek His pleasure (to the) ways (of) the peace, and brings them out from the darknessess to the light by His permission, and guides them to (the) way, straight.*

*5:17.  Certainly disbelieved - those who said, "Indeed, Allah, He (is) the Messiah, son (of) Maryam." Say, "Then who has power against Allah (in) anything if He intends to destroy the Messiah, son (of) Maryam, and his mother and whoever (is) in the earth all?" And for Allah (is the) dominion (of) the heavens and the earth and what (is) between both of them. He creates what He wills, and Allah (is) on every thing All-Powerful.*

*5:18  And said, the Jews and the Christians "We (are) (the) children (of) Allah and His beloved." Say, "Then why (does He) punish you for your sins?" Nay, you (are) human beings from among (those) He created. He forgives [for] whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And for Allah (is the) dominion (of) the heavens and the earth and whatever (is) between them, and to Him (is) the final return.*

*5:19  O People (of) the Book! Surely has come to you Our Messenger, he makes clear to you [on] (after) an interval (of cessation) of the Messengers, lest you say "Not (has) come to us any bearer of glad tidings and not a warner." But surely has come to you a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. And Allah (is) on every thing All-Powerful.*

*5:20.  And when said Musa to his people, "O my people, remember (the) Favor (of) Allah upon you when He placed among you Prophets and made you kings and He gave you what not He (had) given (to) anyone from the worlds.*

*5:21  "O my people! Enter the sacred land  which has ordained Allah for you and (do) not turn on your backs, then you will turn back (as) losers."*

*[Sacred Land = Can’aan = Syria-Palestine.*

*2:125. And when We made the House a place of return for mankind and (a place of) security and (said), "Take [from] (the) standing place (of) Ibrahim, (as) a place of prayer." And We made a covenant with Ibrahim and Ismail [that], "[You both] purify My House for those who circumambulate and those who devote and those who bow down those who prostrate.*

*6:137. And likewise made pleasing to many of the polytheists - (the) killing (of) their children - their partners - so that they may ruin them and that they make confusing to them their religion. And if (had) willed Allah not they (would) have done so. So leave them and what they invent.*

*12:58. And came (the) brothers (of) Yusuf and they entered upon him; and he recognized them, but they not knew him.*

*12:94.And when departed the caravan, said their father, "Indeed, I [I] find (the) smell (of) Yusuf, if not that you think me weakened in mind."*

*21:71.And We delivered him and Lut to the land which We (had) blessed [in it] for the worlds.*

*23:50.  And We made (the) son (of) Maryam and his mother a Sign, and We sheltered them to a high ground, full (of) tranquility and water springs.*

*26:59.Thus. And We caused to inherit them (the) Children (of) Israel.*

*29:26.And believed [in] him Lut, and he said, "Indeed I (am) emigrating to my Rabb. Indeed, He [He] (is) the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."*

*30:3.In (the) nearest land. But they, from after their defeat, will overcome.*

*44:3. Indeed, We revealed it in a Night Blessed. Indeed, We [We] are (ever) warning.]*

*5:22  They said, "O Musa! Indeed, in it (are) people (of) tyrannical strength and indeed, we never will enter it until they leave from it, and if they leave [from] it then certainly we (will) enter (it)."*

*5:23  Said two men from those who feared (Allah), had Favored Allah [on] both of them, "Enter upon them (through) the gate then when you have entered it then indeed, you (will be) victorious. And upon Allah then put your trust if you are believers.*

*5:24  They said, O Musa! Indeed, we never will enter it, ever, for as long as they are in it. So go you and your Rabb and you both fight. Indeed, we are [here] sitting."*

5:25  He said "O my Rabb! Indeed, I (do) not (have) power except (over) myself and my brother, so (make a) separation between us and between the people the defiantly disobedient".*

*5:26. (Allah) said, "Then indeed it (will be) forbidden to them (for) forty years, they will wander in the earth. So (do) not grieve over the people the defiantly disobedient."*

*[Among mankind there always have been those who submit, and those who transgress. The Children of Israel enjoyed great Divine blessings, but for their repeated transgressions they were chastised*

*2:259.Or like the one who passed by a township, and it (had) overturned on its roofs. He said, "How (will) bring to life this (town) Allah after its death?" Then he was made to die (by) Allah (for) a hundred year(s), then He raised him. He said, "How long (have) you remained?" He said, "I remained (for) a day or a part (of) a day." He said, "Nay, you (have) remained one hundred year(s). Then look at your food and your drink, (they did) not change with time, and look at your donkey, and We will make you a sign for the people. And look at the bones how We raise them, then We cover them (with) flesh." Then when became clear to him, he said, "I know that Allah (is) on every thing All-Powerful."*

*17:5. So when came (the) promise (for) the first of the two, We raised against you servants of Ours Possessor those of military might great and they entered the inner most part (of) the homes, and (it) was a promise fulfilled.*

*and Allah bounty of Prophethood, in His Infinite wisdom, moved away from the Children of Israel to the Children of Ishmael, among whom was raised Muhammad, the Final Prophet/Messenger of Allah.*

*The dire opposition of Jews and Christians to the Final Messenger is alluded to in the following verses, in reference to the famous story of the two brothers, Abel Haabeel and Cain Qaabeel]*

*5:27  And recite to them the story (of) two sons (of) Adam, in truth, when both offered a sacrifice, and it was accepted from one of them and not was accepted from the other. Said (the latter), "Surely I will kill you." Said (the former), "Only accepts Allah from the righteous).*

[Every action of the righteous is readily accepted]*

*5:28  If you stretch towards me your hand to kill me, not I will stretch my hand towards you to kill you, indeed I fear Allah (the) Rabb (of) the worlds."*

*5:29  "Indeed, I wish that you be laden with my sin and your sin so you will be among (the) companions (of) the Fire, and that (is the) recompense (of) the wrong-doers."*

*[Two violations or sins: First, of slaying me, and second, of slaying the person in you. ]*

*5:30  Then prompted to him his soul (to) kill his brother, so he killed him and became of the losers.*

*5:31.  Then sent Allah a crow, it (was) scratching in the earth to show him how to cover (the) dead body (of) his brother. He said, "Woe to me! Am I unable that I can be like this [the] crow and hide (the) dead body (of) my brother?" Then he became of the regretful.*

*[Sauaat = Imperfections, faults. Uwaari sauaat = Conceal others' faults = Cover a naked body.*

*7:20.  Then whispered to both of them the Shaitaan to make apparent to both of them what was concealed from both of them of their shame. And he said, "(Did) not forbid you both your Rabb from this [the] tree except that you two become Angels or you two become of the immortals."]*

*5:32  From time that, We ordained on (the) Children (of) Israel that he who kills a soul other than (for) a soul or (for) spreading corruption in the earth then (it) is as if he has killed [the] mankind all. and whoever saves it then (it) is as if he has saved [the] mankind all. And surely came to them Our Messengers with clear Signs yet, indeed, many of them after that in the earth (are) surely those who commit excesses.*

*5:33  Only (the) recompense (for) those who wage war (against) Allah and His Messenger and strive in the earth spreading corruption (is) that they be killed or they be crucified or be cut off their hands and their feet of opposite sides or they be exiled from the land. That (is) for them disgrace in the world and for them in the Hereafter (is) a punishment great.*

*[Fasaad = Bloody crimes = Spreading corruption in the land = Creating disorder. ‘Allah and His Messenger’. None can physically fight against Allah, and the Messenger was a mortal man. So, Allah and the Messenger denote the Central Authority of the Islamic State. Waging war against Allah and the Messenger would mean rebellion against the Islamic State. ‘Severing the hands and feet’ may also be understood as cutting of their ability to create Fasaad.*

*5:38. And (for) the male thief and the female thief - [then] cut off their hands (as) a recompense for what they earned (as) an exemplary (punishment) from Allah. And Allah (is) All-Mighty, All-Wise.*

*12:31. So when she heard of their scheming, she sent for them and she prepared for them a banquet and she gave each one of them a knife and she said, "Come out before them." Then when they saw him they greatly admired him, and cut their hands, they said, "Forbid Allah, not (is) this a man not (is) this but an angel noble."*

*‘Banishing from the land’ may indicate exile or imprisonment for life. If they present to the authorities before getting arrested, they could be pardoned.

4:64. And not We sent any Messenger except to be obeyed by (the) permission (of) Allah. And if [that] they, when they wronged themselves, (had) come to you and asked forgiveness (of) Allah, and asked forgiveness for them the Messenger, surely they would have found Allah Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful]*

*5:34  Except those who repent from before that you overpower [over] them, then know that Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.*

*[Peace will prevail when the righteous become more powerful than the guilty]*

*5:35  O you who believe! Fear Allah and seek towards Him the means and strive hard in His way, so that you may succeed.*

*[Waseelah = Seeking earnestly = Applying the mind and heart to reach a noble goal.*

*2:186.  And when ask you My servants about Me, then indeed I am near. I respond (to the) invocation (of) the supplicant when he calls Me. So let them respond to Me and let them believe in Me, so that they may (be) led aright. and*

*17:57. Those whom they call, seek to their Rabb  the means of access, which of them (is) nearest, and they hope (for) His mercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, (the) punishment (of) your Rabb is (ever) feared.*

*5:36  Indeed, those who disbelieve, if that for them (is) what (is) in the earth all and the like of it with it, to ransom themselves with it, from (the) punishment (of the) Day (of) the Resurrection, not will be accepted from them, and for them (is) a punishment painful.*

*5:37  They will wish that they come out of the Fire but not they will come out of it. And for them (is) a punishment lasting.*

*5:38  And (for) the male thief and the female thief - [then] cut off their hands (as) a recompense for what they earned (as) an exemplary (punishment) from Allah. And Allah (is) All-Mighty, All-Wise.*

*[As-Saariq = Habitual thief. Nakala = Deterrent. For Qat’a yadd, the so-called cutting of hand,*

*12:31. So when she heard of their scheming, she sent for them and she prepared for them a banquet and she gave each one of them a knife and she said, "Come out before them." Then when they saw him they greatly admired him, and cut their hands, they said, "Forbid Allah, not (is) this a man not (is) this but an angel noble." about Egyptian women ‘cutting their hands’. Yadd = Hand = Ability = Power.*

*‘Allah hand’ at many places in the Qur’an, of course, denotes His Power and authority. So, consider all circumstances with wisdom, and take measures to prevent this crime in the society.*

*5:39.But whoever repented from after his wrongdoing and reforms, then indeed, Allah will turn in forgiveness to him. Indeed, Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.*

*for repentance and making amends. If the hand is cut off, where is the room for mercy?

*Qur’anic laws are much more rational than Biblical injunctions.*

*Here is the reference from Mathew Chapter 18, verses 8-9, The New King James Version. “And if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.”*

Can anyone pluck out his own eye?It appears that Muslim translators of the Qur’an rendered Qat'a literally under Biblical influence.]*

*5:39  But whoever repented from after his wrongdoing and reforms, then indeed, Allah will turn in forgiveness to him. Indeed, Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.*

*[ If the hand is cut off, what about making amends, pardon and mercy?]*

*5:40  Do not you know that Allah, to Him (belongs) (the) dominion (of) the heavens and the earth? He punishes whom He wills and He forgives [to] whom He wills. And Allah (is) on every thing All-Powerful.*

*5:41  O Messenger! Not let grieve you those who hasten in (to) [the] disbelief - of those who said, "We believe" with their mouths and not believe their hearts, and from those who (are) Jews. They (are) listeners to falsehood, (and) listeners for people other, (who have) not come to you. They distort the words from after their context, saying, "If you are given this [so] take it but if not you are given it then beware." And (for) whom intends Allah his trial, then never will you have power for him against Allah anything. Those (are) the ones never intends Allah that He purifies their hearts. For them in the world (is) disgrace and for them in the Hereafter (is) a punishment great.*

*[This verse points to taking allies on a national scale, and not to individual friendship.*

*5:42  Listeners to [the] falsehood, devourers of the forbidden. So if they come to you then judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them, then never will they harm you (in) anything. And if you judge, then judge between them with [the] justice. Indeed, Allah loves the ones who are just.*

*5:43  But how can they appoint you a judge while they (have) with them the Taurat, in it (is the) Command (of) Allah? Then they turn away from after that, and not those (are) the believers.*

*5:44  Indeed, We revealed the Taurat in it (was) Guidance and light; judged by it the Prophets, those who had submitted (to Allah) for those who were Jews, and the Rabbis, and the scholars, with what they were entrusted of (the) Book (of) Allah and they were to it witnesses. So (do) not fear the people but fear Me, and (do) not sell My Verses (for) a price, little. And whoever (does) not judge by what has revealed Allah, then those [they] (are) the disbelievers (kafiroon).*

*5:45  And We ordained for them in it that - the life for the life, and the eye for the eye, and the nose for the nose, and the ear for the ear, and the tooth for the tooth, and (for) wounds (is) retribution. But whoever gives charity with it, then it is an expiation for him. And whoever (does) not judge by what has revealed Allah, then those [they] (are) the wrongdoers(Zalimoon).*

*5:46.  We followed their teaching with Isa  the son of Mariyum authenticating what was present with him of the Torah. We gave him the Injeel, in it is guidance and light, and to authenticate what is present with him of the Torah, and a guidance and lesson for the righteous.*

*5:48.  We have sent down to you the book with truth, authenticating what is present of the book and superseding it. So judge between them by what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their desires from what has come to you of the truth. For each of you We have made laws, a structure. Had Allah willed, He would have made you all one nation, but He tests you with what He has given you, so advance the good deeds. To Allah you will return all of you, and He will inform you regarding that in which you dispute.*

*[2:101.Some of them say, "Our Rabb, give us good in this world, and good in the Hereafter, and spare us from the retribution of the fire."*

5:49 You should rule among them by what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their wishes, and beware lest they divert you away from some of what Allah has sent down to you. If they turn away, then know that Allah wants to inflict them with some of their sins. Indeed, many among the people are corrupt.*

5:50. Is it the judgment of the days of ignorance that they seek? Who is better than Allah as a judge for a people that comprehend?
